2011 Birthday Special – Dinner at Bubble Tea
This would be the last episode of my 2011 birthday special, dinner at Bubble Tea. My sister was the one who picked this place and since this was something new to me, I had no complaints. Bubble Tea is located at the lower ground floor of SM Megamall and the first thing I said to myself upon reaching the place was this place needs a better ambiance. Inside, there were only a few tables for customers to sit in so most of the customers stay on the open space outside which was already part of the mall. Only a mini fence separates the diners from the people strolling around in the mall. Aside from that, they also have the presence of the pesky fly (well, there was this one fly that kept on pestering us throughout our meal).
Ok let us start with the orders (though I can only describe what I ate lol ) ^_^
Bubble Tea Chicken Teriyaki Doria – PHP 245.00
This is something new for me. Chicken teriyaki on top with cheese , and creamy rice below. Yummy! :)
Bubble Tea Beef Gyudon – PHP 245.00
I have a tendency to order Gyudon at most Japanese restaurants I eat from.
Gyūdon , (beef bowl), is a Japanese dish consisting of a bowl of rice topped with beef and onion simmered in a mildly sweet sauce flavored with dashi (fish and seaweed stock), soy sauce and mirin (sweet rice wine). It also often includes shirataki noodles, and is sometimes topped with a raw egg.
The last time I ate gyudon was at a fast food in Glorietta 4 and that one wasn’t the gyudon I wanted to eat. However, Bubble’s Tea Gyudon was something that makes me want to eat Gyudon again and again. If you look at it, it looks like a simple beef topping on rice but it really tastes delicious. After I reached the end of the bowl, I wanted more but there was none left. :)
Bubble Tea Katsudon – PHP 175.00
Another Japanese favorite. Although nothing special on this one.
Bubble Tea 1/4 Chicken Leg Rice – PHP 245.00
A simple order of rice and chicken.
Bubble Tea Salmon Foil Yaki – PHP 345.00
My mother’s favorite dish to order, anything with salmon. The Salmon was juicy and it did not have the “fishy” smell I usually get from salmon dishes. The taste is just right.
Bubble Tea Yakiniku Beef Rice – PHP 245.00
I did not touch much on this because it is similar to my gyudon. Although I can say that the beef was ok but it has too much fat with it that you have no choice but to eat it.
Bubble Tea Takoyaki Ball – PHP 175.00
For some reason, I like eating takoyaki despite its expensive price. Takoyaki stands for octopus balls. I usually eat a ball in one gulp and I will play with the mayo and the tender octopus meat with my tongue. Tasty.. Too bad they really don’t like it much.
And the teas…
Chocolate Milk Tea – PHP 125.00
Taro Milk Shake – PHP 135.00
Overall, the experience at Bubble Tea was nice but I would like to once again mention the ambiance issue. It makes the food relatively expensive if that would be the environment they offer.
So that’s it. The end of my 2011 Birthday Special. We had our stomachs filled with food and I was happy to have spent the weekend with family and loved one. :)
Till next time,
