Balinsasayaw Chicken Grill and Restaurant

Balinsasayaw Chicken Grill and Restaurant

Our last food stop before leaving Palawan was Balinsasayaw Chicken Grill and Restaurant. We went here because of the great reviews on their bird’s nest soup but ironically, we didn’t order due to the price (PHP400 per order). Instead, we settled for a cheaper soup and other dishes.

Balinsasayaw is a bird that can be found on the mountains of El Nido. Their nests (which was glued with their saliva) are the one’s being harvested and used in their soup.

The place is made up of several cottages with different heights. You can think of it as having lots of houses on top of a tree where the height differences are because of the tree branches so walking from one house to another would either make you go up or down. However, this setup also has it’s flaws because each house only has 1 entrance (getting to it means the server has to maze through the other houses) and its hard to get your waiter’s attention when he is below or above you (perhaps adding a bell would help). Anyway, let’s start with our meal.

Balinsasayaw Crab and Corn Soup

We settled for this instead of the bird’s nest soup. It’s creamy yet where’s the crab on it?

Balinsasayaw Express

It’s like beef casserole but they used seafood and a spicy sauce. It was ok but it gets more spicier the more you eat it.

Balinsasayaw Fish Fillet

This was just so-so. The breading was crunchy and the fish fillet inside had generous amounts.

Balinsasayaw Pineapple Rice

This was something new to me and I liked how the pineapple was mixed with the rice.

Did we order the wrong food or the place was just overhyped? In comparison to KaLui and Kinabuch, the place was pretty ordinary. However, there were relatively cheaper so if you’re on a tight budget you can definitely go here. One last thing, the servers were kind enough to tell you more the serving size of the rice and soup and they would suggest/offer to reduce the amount (and price) relatively to the number of people to be served.

Till next time,

Allen
