Brasas – Latin American Street Food

Brasas Carne Asada Platter

A taste of Latin American Street Food at Podium!

Brasas would be the first Latin American restaurant that I’ll try. I’m still doing research on the similarities / difference between Mexican and Spanish cuisines to Latin American so I couldn’t compare.

The podium branch had a dark street like ambiance. It reminds me of scenes from movies (hmm like Fast and Furious) where you would walk in the quiet streets lit by lamp posts and soon; a car chase follows! Well, we ate outside so I wasn’t able to continue the story.

The menu shows rice meals, burritos, wraps and sandwiches. I’m not familiar with the names of their dishes except for burrito so I just ordered based on what looked good in the menu. For the rice meals, you may opt to upgrade for an extra PHP 60 for a bigger serving.

Brasas Nachos Con Carne

Brasas Nachos Con Carne – PHP 70

We started off with nachos as our appetizer which had a disappointing amount of meat (carne) on it. It was a good thing that the cheese sauce was creamy and yummy to reduce the disappointment.

When I saw the word “beef sirloin”, I instantly knew that I was ordering this. Strips of tender beef with an appetizing aroma sitting on top of yellow rice. I had little use of the Chimichurri sauce that it came with as the beef itself already was perfect! At the end of the meal (which happened very quickly), I had enough beef pieces left to serve as my dessert!

While I’ll all praises for the beef, the pork belly shouldn’t be ignored. It was also very tender although not as delicious as the beef (I love beef!). It also came with two slices of banana which reminds me of the arroz ala cubana dish (due to bananas).

We didn’t opt for the meal upgrade but we were already satisfied with the serving. Although since I liked the beef so much, I regretted not getting the upgrade. There are more items in their menu that I’d love to try but since I’m not familiar with the names; it is holding me back. In the future, I can come back and ask around while making my order.

Till next time,
