Carol’s Texan 5 Blogger Buffet
June 23, 2011
It was raining hard (wrath of Typhoon Falcon) but that did not stop me for a nearly three hour drive from Makati to San Juan. I was looking forward for the blogger’s buffet and I’m glad that I was able to go home on a full stomach.
Texan5 has five specialty dishes;
- Ultimate Texan Ribs
- Dynamite Wings
- Tomato Basil Pasta w/ Shrimp
- Cowboy Roast Beef
- Fish and Chips
and three of them were served to us.
Carol’s Texan 5 Dynamite Wings
I was expecting this to be spicy because of the name “dynamite”, but it wasn’t. The sauce (sour cream w/ garlic like taste) really compliments the chicken that when I tried to eat it without the sauce, it felt like I was missing something. The sauce made the difference from normal chicken wings to delicious chicken wings.
Carol’s Texan 5 Tomato Basil Pasta
The pasta had a sour aftertaste. I thought I was just imagining it or perhaps the sauce of the dynamite wings got to it so I took another serving to verify. It really does have a sour aftertaste which made me wonder if tomatoes or basil adds sourness to pasta? For me, this is just a normal pasta because I want my pasta to have more ingredients, like … meat! :D
Carol’s Texan 5 Ultimate Texan Ribs
If only the bones were edible, I’ll finish it up too! That’s how I reacted when I finished my first serving. I’m sure the other bloggers would agree because when I tried to get more for second round, I only got one piece. This isn’t actually your fall-off-the-bone variety but it is tender enough for you to concentrate on enjoying the taste instead of the chewing. Thumbs-up!
I would also like to give special mention to the Ice Tea that was served to us. It tasted really good (not just your ordinary powdered ice tea) that I was able to down 3 glasses :D
Carol’s Texan 5 Magnolia Ice Cream
Last but not the least was the dessert which was sponsored by Magnolia. There were three flavors available (vanilla, strawberry and chocolate) but they serve vanilla as mandatory scoop so there was only two combinations. The ice cream was yummy but I was already full so I wasn’t been able to finish it.
Overall, I enjoyed the food at Carol’s Texan 5 and I would like to taste the other specialties too. Too bad they do not have delivery outside of San Juan as of now.
