It was the first time I have seen so much salmon dishes in my life and honestly, it was quite an eye opener because I never knew you can cook salmon in so many ways. I’m only familiar with grilled, baked, as a sushi ingredient, sashimi and salmon sinigang.
So what can you expect from the Salmon Buffet ?
Upon entering the place, you would immediately see a large salmon sitting (1) on top of a platter. It’s enough of an invitation for me to take a small pinch but… let’s take a look around first.
First we have the Japanese section where you can find your miso soup, okonomiyaki (Japanese pizza), Salmon Head Teriyaki (2) and of course the…
Salmon Sashimi (3)
…I’m quite saddened that bad I don’t eat raw when I saw this.
Then we move to the appetizer section where you can find a lot of bread, cheese and more salmon notably the…
Salmon Gravlax with Lemon Vodka (4)
Steamed Salmon with Mayonaise (5)
I was intrigued by the different colors that I simply had to try it. A much improved sandwich spread!
Salmon and Ricotta Pasta Salad (6)
Next up, we have the roast station where we can have dishes from Chinese origins such as Roast Duck, Roast Chicken, Lechon Macau and…
- Wild Alaska Salmon with Chinese Stir Fry Vegetables (7)
- Kowloon Meat Balls Salmon with Sweet Chili (8)
- Steamed Salmon Hongkong Style (9) – For a steamed dish, it was yummy! Liked the light cream it came with.
Just besides the roast station we can find the…
Salmon Four Cheese Pizza (10)
Salmon Kebab (11)
The Salmon Kebab has a neighbor called Salmon Fish Fry (12). If you’d like a bit of Mediterranean twist then you shouldn’t miss these two.
Then we have the grilling station where you can simply point and they grill (13) for you. Are you having fun yet? I still have more!
Czech Baked Salmon (14)
Two words. Must Try!
Fish Station – Salmon on the Rocks (15)
This caught my attention simply because of the way it gets prepared. It is fried first then placed on top of hot rocks after frying. The excess oils just flow out.
Salmon Paella (16)
A dish that’s never absent in buffets.
Cannelloni Salmon with Feta Cheese (17)
It’s similar to lasagna but without the meat.
Norwegian Grilled Salmon in Spicy Mango Salsa (18)
Ever since my experience with Mango Salsa at Sutra, I’ve been craving for it. My personal favorite of the night.
The Ultimate Slow Roasted Salmon in Dili Sauce (19)
Salmon Paksiw (20)
An interesting twist of the Filipino Classic dish.
If you were wondering about the numbers beside each dish, I was counting the number of ways they have prepared the salmon and they still have (yet I wasn’t able to capture anymore).
After trying these salmon dishes, I have to say that my personal favorites would be … drumroll please… # 5 (Steamed Salmon with Mayonaise), 18 (Norwegian Salmon with Spicy Mango Salsa) and 14 (Czech Baked Salmon).
For dessert, I had ice-cream-in-a-macaron, macarons and creme brulee.
Before I end the post, I just have to say that I was impressed by the quality of salmon that Corniche served. Usually, salmon has this fishy smell or taste that makes me get a few pieces only. However, here I didn’t notice that. It was simply great tasting salmon!
