WangFu Chinese Cafe
Located at Serendra, one expects expensive meals but one was mistaken at WangFu.
I have passed by WangFu Chinese Cafe as I go from Market Market to Gold’s Gym. My only knowledge about this restaurant was that it was owned by Richard “Sir Chief” Yap. I assumed that this was a high-end Chinese restaurant because of the location but I was mistaken when I saw the menu.
WangFu Chinese Cafe offers dimsum, a la carte Chinese and Singaporean dishes such as Hainanese Chicken, Pork Asado, Sweet and Sour Pork or Fish, Beef with Broccoli, Cereal Prawns and many more. I just enumerated a few of my favorite Chinese dishes. These are meant to be shared but many of these dishes have a set meal version. The set meals are good for one and comes with unlimited rice, unlimited soup and a glass of red iced tea.
A new addition to the menu would be General Tso’s Chicken. It features chunks of deep-fried chicken with a sweet and spicy sauce. There’s a layer of breading on the chicken but you can still enjoy the chicken meat. It was great to pair with rice.
The Hainanese Chicken was just ok. I’m just not used to seeing it drenched in sauce. The rice was chicken rice. I failed to ask if that’s also served unlimited as part of the set meal or only plain rice will be served after.
It had the name T-Bone so one can expect steak but since we were in a Chinese Restaurant; that expectation wasn’t suitable. The slices of beef were served in a sizzling plate. It tasted like stir-fried beef but using higher quality of beef.
A la Carte
This was my first time to try cereal prawns. I hyped myself for this dish but that hype died when I had a taste. It was just fried shrimp with a crunchy and slight spicy breading (crushed cereals).
I was happy to see broccoli as part of the dish. It didn’t have a lot of sauce as what I’m used and it was pure vegetables. I didn’t see any pork or liver in there (but I guess it’s a different recipe).
Dimsum and Desserts
and here’s what we had for dimsum and dessert!
Their version of mango sago was where you need to mix everything as the ingredients was placed on top of shaved ice. Not too sweet but still yummy!
One was mistaken about the first assumption of Wangfu’s menu and prices… so one will return and try more of their personal set meals especially after a good workout.
Till next time,
