Dinner at La Maison

Dinner at La Maison

Update:  La Maison has Closed

November 26, 2010

On a Friday night where my friends and I were looking for a place to eat, we landed on La Maison. Unfortunately, this will be their first (for some) and last visit to this particular branch of La Maison (unless they are all the same). Before I expound on that, let me show you what I ate for a price of PHP295.

La Maison Beef Stroganoff – PHP 295.00

Basically, you get beef with carrots, salad and rice which for my appetite won’t be enough to satisfy me. The beef was delicious. It was soft but there is something with the sauce that is different (I was thinking if it was wine but since I’m not really an expert on food, it was just a random wild guess).  However, the serving size was so small that I feel like I was trying to ration what I was eating just so I won’t finish it in five minutes due to hunger.

Edit: I just realized that this is not beef stroganoff but another dish they have that also starts with Beef S. … sorry about that.

So anyway, I mentioned in that this would probably be the last time they visit this particular branch. Why? Service. This is the main reason why they left the place in a bad mood because the service wasn’t good.

First fail – Very long waiting time for the food to arrive. The waiter said it would only take around 10-15 minutes to be served but we waited for more than that. We had to make follow-ups till our food arrived. Since we were already hungry, our patience was already very thin and then…

Second fail – Serving size. I’m not sure who their target consumers are but it would certainly not for hungry people who had to wait long to be served small servings.

Third fail – Long wait time for billing out. This seriously ticked them off as they had to wait long just to get the receipt. The extra water we requested did not enough arrive. On top of that, they do charge “service charge” for this kind of service. There weren’t that many customers so we do not know why the service was slow.

So I hope they fix their service because I don’t think we would belong to their list of  thousands of happy and satisfied customers served since January 2010.

Btw, here’s the orders of the others.

Till next time,

Allen

  1. i used to eat in La Maison in cebu and i have experienced good service. food arrives on time and the serving was bigger than what i saw in your photos. i’m a fan of their bento meals and certainly i get more than that in the pictures. they do charge for service but its fine. it’s a high-end place.

So what can you say? :)
