Dinner at Mama Gan Restaurant
December 22, 2010
Our friend Nima was here in Iloilo so they decided that we eat out in Mama Gan Restaurant. It was a late dinner where we were the only customers left but that did not stop us from enjoying the food. I have missed their cooking and was looking forward to a delicious dinner. I wasn’t denied of such satisfaction and let the pictures tell you why.
One of my long time favorite soups that I only get to taste in restaurants. Eating this soup in other Chinese restaurants would be a big dent in our pocket that is why I usually just eat it here. A mix of crab meat, mushroom, and other ingredients I could not remember means a delicious soup for me. I can even just have this, add rice and my dinner is solved.
This is a version of fried chicken that has butter. They do taste a bit different from the usual fried chicken but still it tastes normal to me. I did not eat much of this one as I want to reserve the space of my stomach in eating other dishes.
Another dish that I don’t usually order in other restaurants, fried pigeon with chicharon. The serving size (1 pigeon) is small but they taste good. I’m just not used to mixing them with rice as I like to eat them on their own. Their meat is more tastier than chicken and they are colored grey (similar to duck). However, sometimes I feel guilty eating these little fellas.. oh well, guilty pleasure.
I forgot the name of this dish so let me just call it shrimp. It has this mild spiciness on it but I was able to tolerate it (I’m weak in spicy food). Not really that extra ordinary but still good.
One thing I like for Bangus in Iloilo is that they are really boneless. It makes you concentrate on savoring the flavor rather than plucking out some stray bones here and there. Good dish (one of my favorite fishes to eat).
Mama Gan Restaurant Sizzling Tenderloin
Something new that they cooked due to my brother’s need for beef a long time ago (lol at my time phrases). This one is simple, sizzling beef with gravy. Nothing extra ordinary. There are some parts of the beef that are hard to chew that I had to swallow them without chewing them properly =(
So anyway, those were the dishes that we ate that night and my stomach was really full. I started with the soup, ate a few viands left and right (especially the tenderloin), then ended with the soup.
Till next time,
