One of the most awaited traditions of Germany would be Oktoberfest. This has been celebrated yearly will overflowing food, games, performances and of course, beer or “bier“. Paulaner is one of the six breweries allowed to brew this seasonal beer and they have been consistent in their brewing since they were able to brew it successfully a long time ago. The beer’s color is deep golden-yellow and it has a distinct malty body. To know more about Paulaner and why they were able to brew the Oktobefest Beer; please visit the link.
This year Draft Gastropub and Paulaner brings the festivities here in Manila every Saturday this October. Witness and try out the special Oktoberfest Brew from Paulaner that’s going to be available for a limited time. These comes in four sizes such as 330ml for PHP 200, 500ml for PHP 300, 1 liter for PHP 550 and PHP 300 for a bottle.
I did try out the beer and I loved it! It wasn’t bitter even when it lost its coldness. Initially I had a hard time finishing a pint of beer (~500 ml) but later, I was on my second glass. It was just smooth and very easy to drink especially when I was busy munching on the different dishes served that night.
The celebration won’t be complete without games and food. Draft has prepared games such as beer pong and arm wrestling to entertain the guests. Anyone is free to join and prizes await the winners. For those who simply wants to drink beer; they can also be entertained by the live bands that will be playing as the night goes along. For those who loves food, don’t fret as Draft has it covered with their awesome collection of sausages and other dishes (which we can simply call pulutan).
We have the appetizers that has different types of cheeses, cold cuts and large pretzels. My favorite here would be the camembert cheese as it’s so creamy and soft! Limited edition menu item – only for this Oktoberfest and the recommended partner for their beer.
So spaetzel is an egg noodle dish from Germany. It was loaded in cheese and reminds of me mac and cheese. If I were to eat this then I’d like to pair it with meat or any other dish as it tastes a bit bland on its own.
One of our favorites that night would be the spiral bratwurst. It had this smoky aroma and upon chewing it; it was juicy and a bit chunky.
This would be draft’s version of the local crispy pata. I’m glad that they served a sauce / dip because the pork itself didn’t have much flavor (except for those dark meat). But it was a great match to the beer.
So what are you waiting for? Head out to Draft Gastropub and taste the limited edition Paulaner Oktoberfest Beer!
