Earth Day 2016 – Liter of Light Project with Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf
Can you imagine a world without light? As I write this post under the light of light bulbs, I wonder how it is for those who don’t have this luxury?
Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, through their partnership with My Shelter Foundation, will host an event this coming April 26, 2016. The project is called Liter of Light and the aim is to build solar lamps to communities that lack electricity.
These solar lamps used to be kerosene lamps however recent developments have managed to improved on these lamps. Now the fumes and smoke are gone and no more dependence on dependence on fossil fuels. it is simply powered by solar energy that you can charge during the day and will give you light during the night.
So what is the event about?
On April 26, 2015, be one of the Solar Lamp Volunteers who will pledge and create your own solar lamp. The goal is to create 100 of these lamps and donate these to the Dumagat Guide. To quote;
The Dumagats are a community in Gabaldon, one of the most isolated villages in the Nueva Ecija Province. Nomadic in nature, the tribe has continued to live their simple day-to-day lives without electricity. Even with roughly 60 families living around the village center and others scattered around the mountain range, the Dumagats live far apart from each other, making it difficult to provide a centralized supply of electricity.
