Chowking Subic Late Lunch

Late Lunch at Chowking Subic

Chowking Orange Chicken

The main goal was to eat Chowking Halo halo on a hot day but since the Chowking Orange Chicken is new, might as well try it.

It was already late in the afternoon when we left Zambales to go back to Manila. We haven’t had lunch yet so we did a stopover at Subic to eat at Chowking and do some window and actual shopping at the outlet stores there.

Chowking Tokwa and Baboy?

Tofu with Onions and Garlic I think? I only ate one tofu and … son of tofu, it’s sour! ^_^

My friends ordered this one. Basically Chao-fan is Chowking’s version of fried rice then you can add some toppings (with varying prices of course) and they picked Siomai.

Chowking Orange Chicken Lauriat

Chowking Orange Chicken Lauriat

  • Orange Chicken
  • Crispy Noodles
  • Buchi
  • Chicharon
  • Rice

Now this is my order. Honestly, I would have liked it if I ordered the plain Orange Chicken meal instead of the Lauriat version. The serving of Orange chicken is much lesser than the normal order. However, since I thought I was hungry, I ordered this one but I had a hard finishing it due to I’m not used to eating Crispy Noodles, at first I thought it was pancit canton (now that would have madem eat it fast yum!)

Chowking Halo Halo

To end the meal with a bang, we ordered Halo Halo. I believe almost everyone of us ordered Halo Halo and we were very near the place where they make it. Orders of Halo halo just kept on pouring in and Chow King must be very thankful for the summer heat intensified by El Niño.

Mini Review of Orange Chicken

I thought Chowking Orange Chicken was just another name for sweet and sour chicken but the taste is different. The sweetness is still there but instead of being sour, it is spicy so it is sweet and spicy chicken. For the chicken itself, I would say it needs more chicken underneath the breading (I can’t help compare it to KFC’s chicken fillet’s) because if you want tender chicken meat, you would have to go through the not-really-that-thick-breading-but-i-dont-like breading.

For scores, I would give it a 7/10 due to the serving size and chicken fillet they used. I have noticed this in the past and this menu is not an exception, the pictures in their advertisements is misleading because the serving size you will get when you order is much much smaller than the one you see in TV or in pictures.

Till next time,
