Lunch at Kangaroo Jack
Last weekend, we went to SM North Edsa to check out the 3 day sale there. We did not have much time as we arrived there around 1pm already and we need to leave at around 4pm to go back south to Baclaran for a house blessing. Yes, it was a road trip from Makati to SM North to Baclaran. I was only able to buy 1 luggage where I plan to use it for my South Korea visit this summer. I was late to wake up so when my parents arrived to fetch me, I did not have time to eat breakfast (though I wasn’t sure if I had anything to eat except bananas) so I asked them that the first thing we will do upon arriving in SM North is to eat.
We did not know much of the place since we rarely go there so we ate at the first place we saw that offers food, Kangaroo Jack.
Kangaroo Jack offers sizzling and grilled food and their specialty is steaks. In checking the prices, they were relatively cheap for a steak house since their prices only ranged from PHP100 to PHP200.
Each one of us order soup (cream of mushroom, mushroom chowder and pumpkin soup). I wasn’t able to try the pumpkin soup but I liked the cream of mushroom more than the mushroom chowder. After the soup, we all ordered different steak meals (yey more pictures for me) except for my mother who opted for a seafood meal.
I won’t be able to give a comment to each of the dish since I wasn’t able to try it out. So I’ll just give a general comment.
We believed that the reason the prices were cheaper is because the serving sizes were also smaller. For example, the sirloin steak was thinner than the usual you can get from other restaurants. In terms of taste, I liked what I had (Bulalo Steak) because it was very soft (actually much softer than when I eat it in a soup) and my father also liked his tenderloin steak as it was very tender.
However, the downside from the dish served to my mother. She ordered cream dory and expected it to be steamed as it was very white on the pictures. But it arrived to her in a crispy-yellowish color where it looks like it got fried instead. Upon tasting, it was really fried so she was disappointed with her meal.
Overall the experience at Kangaroo Jack was good. The steaks were served fast even though the place was jam packed (why are there so many people? is there a sale going on? LoL). It is just that due to the serving size and the prices, we can’t help compare it to the sizzling places found in food courts. Although they are the upgraded and much better version.
Here are the pics from our Kangaroo Jack Lunch.
