On Jessa’s birthday, I took her out for a lunch Smoper Chicken. I redeemed the voucher that I got from Deal Grocer and in exchange for a piece of paper; we got this in return.

Smoper Fried Chicken (3 orders at PHP175 per order)

A basket of fried chicken in different flavors. Smoper Chicken offers four distinctive and familiar flavors to their chicken. These are…

  1. Original
  2. Spicy
  3. Soy-Garlic
  4. Curry

They were kind enough to allow us to try each of these flavors in our order. In total, we got 6 pcs of chicken wings, 3 pcs of leg and 3 pcs of thigh. So how does the flavors taste like?

The original recipe which was a bit sweet but the distinction lies on the peanuts that were stuck to the skin.

I was able to survive the spiciness of their chicken! Although I felt beads of sweat on my forehead, it wasn’t the type that would make your throat itchy and make a run for the water station. It was very tolerable and just provides a hint of spiciness.

Soy Garlic

The safest option to try as it’s the most common among all Korean style fried chicken. It was good but nothing new.

Speaking of nothing new, this was very new for me as this was the first time I had a curry-flavored fried chicken. It was distinct that the previous 3 flavors because of the smell of curry and once you have taken a bite, the taste of curry will say hello to you. It’s not spicy btw.

Hungry as we were, having to eat 12 pcs of chicken was a delicious challenge and their relatively bigger chicken cuts doesn’t help our predicament. Although I have to say that we enjoyed eating their fried chicken especially since it was very juicy (a bit would bring out all that juiciness – and oil). I’d like to make a return visit to try out their other Korean dishes as well.

Till next time,
