The Return to Mr Kim Bob
Due to my craving of trying KimBob again, I decided to check out the food court at SM Makati. Gladly, my sources were correct and we managed to find Mr Kim Bob just at our left after going down the stairs so let’s go order! Guess what, I gave the wrong name to one of their dishes in my previous post… This time, I’m sure of the names. :)
Bulgogi (beef) Bibimbab – PHP 95
Dakgogi (chicken) Bibimbab – PHP 90
Aside from having either chicken or beef in your bibimbab, there is no difference between the two. You will be given the same “side dishes” to go with your meal. All you have to do is to mix them as you like. I even added kim chi to the mix even if I’m a weakling when it comes to spicy dishes. Well, it made me sweat but every spoonful was delicious! It is also healthy because there are generous servings of vegetables and you won’t notice much that you are eating them because they had been mixed in already and the spicyness will cover them for you.
The basic rule in eating bibimbap is to mix everything! Mix everything in your plate and add the sidings to your mix. You will also need to spread out the red ketchup-looking sauce (Gochujang) all over it (don’t treat it like a dip).
Kimbab – PHP 70
Ah so this is the “Kim bab“. (Is it a typo or should it be called as kimbap instead?)
Gimbap or kimbap is a popular Korean dish made from steamed white rice (bap) and various other ingredients, rolled in gim (sheets of dried laver seaweed) and served in bite-size slices. (Wikipedia)
For one order, you will get 14pcs so that would be around PHP5 per piece. Also, in the middle, there is what we call the King Kim Bab because it is larger than its fellow kim babs. However, even though it is bigger, I was still able to stuff it in my mouth in just one bite just like what I did to the others (LoL).
Btw, I have no idea what this should taste like so I can’t judge this much though the sauce it had was a bit bland. It maybe because I just added a few drops to my Kim Bab but for me, it just tastes the same with or without the sauce. I liked the meat and vegies in the middle because they add flavor and crunchiness to the Kim Bab.Overall, it is a good to-share dish.
For sure, this will not be the last time we eat in Kim Bab.
Till next time,
