Tomahawk is a small axe that can be used as a throwing weapon or in close combat. You can use it with a shield or for more offense; use one on each hand. These little …

…oh wait…

Tomahawk is a cut of meat where the meat is still attached to the bone that resembles the shape tomahawk used in ancient times. It is also sometimes called as the cowboy cut. This is what a relatively new restaurant at Kapitolyo, Tomahawk Chops and Grill, specializes in.

At Tomahawk chops and grill; you have two options for your chops. You can either have it grilled or fried. We picked grilled.

Tomahawk Grilled Tomahawk Chops

Tomahawk Grilled Tomahawk Chops – PHP 295
As the name suggests, the house specialty! Inch-thick bone-in porkloin chops with our signature sauce.

Hello Tomahawk. This pork-loin tomahawk is not only big but also thick (an inch). I initially had doubts on the tenderness due to its thickness. However, all my doubts got dispelled when I sliced it easily with my spoon. Lathered with their signature sauce (that tasted like bbq sauce that you use in baby back ribs); it was mouth-watering.

You may opt to pair with their dirty rice (which I didn’t since the server said it was spicy). Also, do avail of their weekday promo where the chops are down to PHP 199 only during lunch.

Tomahawk Grilled Baby Back Ribs

Tomahawk Grilled Baby Back Ribs – PHP 435
Perfectly grilled baby back ribs served with our signature sauce.

Speaking of baby back ribs; we also ordered their grilled baby back ribs. For ribs, I usually look for two things; (1) the sauce shouldn’t be too overpowering and (2) the meat should be tender with bonus points when it simply falls off the bone. Tomahawk’s ribs met my first criteria (same sauce used in their chops) but not much on the second one. In fact, it was defeated by the tomahawk chop in terms of tenderness despite being thicker.

However, given the sheer size of the ribs where we got two racks; who am I to complain? All I can do is to turn into a caveman and devour it like it was meant to be.

Clearly, their tomahawk chops deserved to be called their house specialty, best seller, must order, and even on their restaurant’s name. It big, tender, juicy and definitely back for the buck (esp on weekday lunch).

We also passed by Kool Kids; an ice cream shop that serves liquid nitrogen ice cream! It is right besides Tomahawk so we made a brief stop to try it too.

Banana, Nutella and Cinnamon; with your choice of toppings (cookie and almonds)

Amazing as we saw it get formed right in front of our eyes. It was very creamy and delicious! You can really taste the ingredients as described. Definitely a great way to end your meal.

Till next time,
